The acting chairman of the BSP, Atanas Zafirov, is no longer president of the Bulgarian Rugby Federation (BRF). He had held the post since March 2014, but has now stepped down of his own accord, as he entered the executive branch as a deputy prime minister without portfolio in the new government headed by Rosen Zhelyazkov.
Zafirov’s post at the BRF was taken by Lyudmil Dimov, by decision of the General Assembly. He built up leadership experience in this sport in our country as chairman of one of the two Sofia clubs in our championship – Lokomotiv (Sofia). Dimov had also been a member of the federation’s Management Board until now, as well as vice-president. It was precisely his presence in the BRF’s management to date that was one of the reasons for his election, as it is considered that this will ensure continuity in the post. In addition, it is judged that Lyudmil Dimov is one of the people with the greatest authority in the sport of rugby in Bulgaria.
